what you need to bring
Day Trips:
MANDATORY:
- shoes that can get wet, are suitable for a steep hill and will stay
securely on your feet. (we recommend running shoes or sports sandals)
- swimsuit or lightweight underclothes for under your wetsuit.
OPTIONAL:
- towel
- dry shoes for after the trip
- sun glasses, tie-on for glasses
- extra medication if you are currently taking any.
- camera (we have waterproof disposable ones for sale)
- SMILES!
Overnight Wilderness Trips:
limited space - please follow the gear list.
The best thing is to be able to dress in layers. Please show up for the
trip wearing either shorts & t-shirt (warm day) or a warm pullover
and pairs of warm light weight pants. Call us if you have questions about
what is appropriate to bring. For 3 day trips, bring an additional set
of underclothes & socks. If you are prone to being cold, bring an
additional warm layer.
- 2 pairs long underwear or other warm lightweight layer (polypro if you
have it).
- 2 changes of underclothes, 3 pairs of socks.
- t-shirt or tank top & shorts.
- warm pullover and 2 pairs of warm light weight pants (not denim, fleece
if you have it).
- swimsuit, face cloth & mid-size towel
- personal wash kit & flashlight (headlamp if you have it)
- shoes that can get wet such as tennis shoes or sport sandals.
- dry shoes such as runners or light hikers
- sun glasses, tie-on for glasses
- extra medication if you are currently taking any.
- sun hat, warm hat
- compact sleeping bag, tent, and thin sleeping pad such as ensolite or
thermarest.

Camping or Bunkhouse Trips:
The best thing is to be able to dress in layers. Avoid cotton for day
clothes! It steals heat from your body if you get cold and wet. Specialized
outdoor fabrics are best if you have them, such as fleece and polypropylene.
- 1-2 pairs long underwear or other warm lightweight layer (polypro if
you have it).
- enough changes of underclothes & pairs of socks - bring extra!
- swimsuit
- 2-3 t-shirts & shorts.
- warm pullover (or two that can be layered if you tend to be cold )
fleece jackets are strongly recommended - NOT cotton!
- a wind/water resistant lightweight jacket (waterproof breathable if
you have it).
- if you don't have a waterproof breathable, a waterproof jacket that
is NOT a poncho
- warm pants (NOT jeans, fleece preferred).
- 1-2 pairs outdoor hiking pants (nylon best, cotton not recommended).
- wind/water resistant pants (waterproof breathable if you have it).
- rain pants (water proof) if you don't have waterproof breathable ones.
- sun hat (ball cap fine)
- warm hat (they are called toques in Canada!)
- small woolen or fleece mitts for cold weather
- work gloves for trail riding and caving
- shoes that can get wet such as tennis shoes or sport sandals.
- boots with a heel for riding
- day hikers
- face cloth, mid-size towel and soap
- personal toiletries
- flashlight or headlamp if you have one
- sun glasses, tie-on for prescription or costly glasses
- extra of any required medication (recommend 2 complete sets, store them
in separate locations)
- epipen for those with life-threatening allergies (this is a must to
allow participation)
- sunscreen and bug spray (Deep Woods Off with DEET works the best)
- 1-2 liter water container
- day Pack
- 2 garbage bags in case of wet clothing
- compact sleeping bag and thin sleeping pad such as ensolite or thermarest.
