what is the company's
history?
Founded
in 1998, Wild Blue Yonder has been offering rafting trips and activity/accommodation
packages ever since. Pioneering the industry in Grande Cache, the company
has grown rapidly and is now a mid-size company for Alberta. 7 full-time
and 8 part-time staff cater to guests in the summer months. The owners
also work full-time, but with our strong team atmosphere, guests often
have a hard time figuring out just who is the boss!
Co-owner Johannes Zwart brings almost 20 years as a
guide to the company: canoeing, dog-sledding, rafting and many other guide
experiences make him a well-rounded Team Leader. All that is topped with
a diploma from the prestigious adventure tourism program at University
College of the Caribou, providing complete industry skills. The other
co-owner, Gina Goldie, has almost 20 years as an entrepreneur. The resulting
strong business skills complement her professional career as a graphic
designer and marketing wizard. More than that, when Gina is not on the
phone helping you with your trip, she may be taking a group down the river
as an intermediate level guide.
The company has adhered to a strict safety standard since day one. We
have never had an incident resulting in serious injury. We provide top
quality gear, and guides are well-trained. Please see safety
standards for more details.
